Connection to a Riots device is lost, what do I do?
Yes. Riots devices work together seamlessly through the Riots Infrastructure, and you can expand the Riots solution you already have with other Riots products.
Yes, data security has been central in the development of the Riots system. All data transfer in the system is individually encrypted and best industry standards have been used.
Data is transferred as short, targeted series of signals in small intervals from one Riots device to another Riots device. This means more secure data transfer, less power required and faster data transfer between devices.
The data collected from the building is encrypted and transferred through Riots Mama to the Internet over LAN connection. A regular internet connection is sufficient for the data transfer and no static IP address is required.
The Riots system collects data described in the description of the solution in question. For example, if you have a sensor that measures room temperature and humidity levels, the sensor collects data on room tempeture and air humidity. Riots will handle and analyze data from your building according to the service level you have chosen – take a look at our services! More information on the data stored in Riots Cloud and how we handle the data can be found in the cloud service privacy policy.
Yes. Through Riots Cloud you can monitor how the pumping stations are functioning, and the system sends an alarm if the pumping stations is not functioning properly.
Yes it is. The Riots products are compatible with most interfaces available on the market. For example, a Riots device can be connected to a Modbus device. If you wish to know the compatibility of a specific manufacturer, please contact us.
We have performed the GDPR risk analyses required by the EU and we have created suitable contract templates for you. Upon purchase we’ll provide you with ready-made contract templates regarding the ownership and use of the data to ensure proper handling of the collected data in accordance with the GDPR regulations.
More info on GDPR can be found for example at tietosuoja.fi.
The wirelessness of the Riots system is more refined than in many other wireless systems. The Riots system utilizes a short-range technology, which decreases the amount of wireless network traffic on the air.
The wireless range of a Riots device is approximately 10 meters in empty spaces. The range can be increased with routers. The surrounding materials, such as concrete or metal, affect the wireless range opf the devices. For this reason Riots devices that use wireless data transfer must not be installed in for example cabinets made of metal. Both in the planning and installation stages it should be noted that stone and concrete walls decrease or altogether block the wireless range of Riots devices installed near them. In these cases we recommend ensuring the data transfer between the devices either by using CAN bus or by changing the placement of the devices.
The Riots systems sends an automatic alert to the Cloud service and to an email address defined in the Cloud service or as a text message to a phone number defined in the Cloud service when
If your email address or phone number is defined as the recipient for alerts, you’ll receive alerts to your email or as a text message. The alert message displays what the problem seems to be. If the alert message you receive does not notify you of the corrective actions needed, sign in to the Cloud service and check the issue in the Cloud service. You can find guidance on our website as well.
Did you receive an alert from the Riots system that connection to Riots Mama is lost? This means that the Riots Mama device is not connected to the Internet; the Riots system does not display real-time data from the building, and settings of Riots devices cannot be changed or adjusted from the Cloud service. Typically the connection to Riots Mama returns automatically when the Internet connection is restored. The Riots system functions locally according to the latest set values also during the loss of the Internet connection.
What you can do:
If the connection is not restored, check the device on the location: GSM Mama
LAN Mama
If there seems to be a problem in the system, we recommend to first check Riots Cloud to locate the source of the issue. With an individual Riots device you can check whether the light is on in the device. You can see the light from the side of the device or by removing the top lid of the device.
Riots devices purchased 2018 or earlier:
You can detach the power cord of a Riots device for a moment at any time, even when the device is connected to the Cloud service. The device will reconnect to the system once the power cord is re-attached if there are no problems with the connection in general.
